Pita Plus - Sunrise, FL

Upon entering Pita Plus, you feel welcomed! The guy working the restaurant was very friendly and accommodating, making suggestions and letting me taste certain menu items.

I decided to get a Beef Shish Kabab Sandwich and I hate when I say this, because eventually I will likely go someplace and say this again, but this was the best Pita sandwich I have ever had in my life and I can bet that at least in Broward, this is the top spot. The meat was way better quality than most, moist and flavorful. The other awesome thing about this place, is that the additions are plenty and you can load your sandwich up with whatever you like.

I also had an order of Falafel.

The name says it all, go for the Pitas but the other stuff is pretty good too.

Fins & Things Caribbean Seafood Bar & Grill - Sunrise, FL

Caribbean and seafood, these a two of my favorite things!

It is worth noting that the restaurant is a nice spot, with a full bar and presents itself as a nice lounge/restaurant spot to chill but I ordered takeout.

This may be a blessing or a curse, but food is made to order, so there is a very long wait so be prepared for that. Freshness prevails for me, so I do not mind waiting. I order the Garlic Lobster and it was better than amazing and well worth the wait!

The fiance has the Escovitch Fish and had the same results.

Bottomline, if you want good food, really good seafood, come here!

Joey's Italian Cafe - Wynwood/Edgewater - Miami, FL

Oh, how I love Wnywood! The art, the hipsters, the hidden gems! Which translate to, not the friendliest service but a very cool looking restaurant while dining in Wynwood.

Boasting to have the best pizza in Miami, Joey's was a definite to check out. The Diavola crust was crispy, and it was pretty good, but self-proclaiming yourself as the best sets yourself up to scrutiny and for that I wasn't very impressed.

At the servers recommendation, I decided to try their one of their special dishes which was a combination of two pastas. I found the pasta to be way more impressive than the pizza was. It was the best of two dishes rolled into one amazing meal.

Finishing off I had a Pear Tart for dessert. I don't  even like pears and I found it to be pretty good.

The gelato was decent but I would come here for that. The Pistachio gelato was flavored rather than being made with actual pistachios.

Don't think I didn't leave without a cocktail. I ordered a Juanito (Vodka, Malibu Rum, Mango Pure Cranberry Juice topped with Chambord) and while it was refreshing, it tasted almost virgin.

I would definitely go back to Joey's for that pasta but not much else!

Chicano Express Mexican Grill - Lauderhill, FL

I wanted Mexican, it was right around the corner and my friend recommended it so I went.

He raved about the burger and how good it was but I was thinking more along the lines of tacos so I got a Pachuco Burrito. It was a generous size and stuffed with plenty of meat but I didn't really like it. I can't pinpoint what I didn't like, but I felt like something was missing - more seasoning, more cheese, perhaps. It was fresh and had all the fixing for something great; my tastebuds just weren't agreeing.

So back to the burger that my friend was raving about. Those that love the egg on top of their burger may be impressed, but those like me, who don't like a burger full of sauces to the point that your bread becomes a soggy mess will be less impressed. I found it to be very average at best, but if an egg and a good size meat patty is what you are going for, you will be satisfied.

The restaurant decor isn't very inviting (extremely dull and plain), but the staff is very friendly and warm. The potential is there and I can see why people like this place, just for whatever reason, I didn't.

SAIA Sushi Asian Grill - Fort Lauderdale, FL

It was extremely dark and had more of a bar/lounge feel than a restaurant and although I not into the whole dining in the dark thing, I would love it as a chill spot for drinks.

With that feeling in mind, I ordered a Scorpion Bowl, that is clearly intended for two people, but really what difference does that make if they had split it in half and I ordered two instead. A punch with a punch, the Scorpion stung me!

We started our dining journey with the Mongolian BBQ Lamp Lollipops that were not only tender and the right sweet, but very meaty as well.

We also wanted to get the sliders, but they were out so we moved on to the Rock Shrimp Tempura. They were good but nothing in comparison to the lamb.

We could not leave without ordering sushi so we ordered the Fire Dragon Roll (shrimp, avocado, snow crab, spicy tuna, eel sauce) and the Surf and Turf Roll (Wagyu beef, tempura shrimp, snow crab, jalapeno, sweet soy ginger spice). The Fire Dragon Roll was pretty freakin' good, but the Surf and Turf Roll was phenomenal.

All in all, it was a great dinner, and I would want to go back, but the prices are a bit high and in that sense I question it a little bit.

VooDoo BBQ & Grill - Pembroke Pines, FL (Other Locations Nationwide)

I lived in New Orleans for almost a year and never went there. But I living in NOLA, BBQ at a chain just didn't seem worthy but apparently it does when I am in Florida.

I didn't have high hopes but I really wanted BBQ so I stopped by to pick up some food. I went all out and had their signature Pulled Pork Platter with Corn Pudding, Macaroni and Cheese and Toast on the side. It wasn't the greatest even but it definitely satisfied my craving.

Then I also had Baby Back Ribs (I said I went all out) and they were equally as satisfying.

It didn't stop at that, I also had the Carnival Sandwich (not really, my friend did) and it was not a fan favorite, but when you do not like that sort of thing, what are you going to expect.

The White Chocolate Bread Pudding could have definitely been missed.

Joe's Crab Shack - Lauderhill, FL

This place isn't all that great other than on Twosdays when they have $2 Hurricanes and appetizers (which are very small by the way).

Hurricane
Crab Fritters
Fried Crawfish

The other plus are the Steampots, which actually have seasoning (not just that salty water taste) and are a lot more affordable than most other seafood places.

Rajin' Cajun
Samuel Adams

The decor is seriously lacking, its not the cleanest, the food is pretty subpar and the service needs much improvement but if you like seafood and are looking for a deal (maybe at a cost), it is surely way better than Red Lobster (not that is saying much).

Cinque Terre Italian Restaurant - Davie, FL

They had cute decor and lots of windows and lighting so right off the bat, I really liked the atmosphere. Then our server was so amazing, taking time to explain the dishes, even bringing out a couple of wines for us to try. Both wines were exceptional but we choose the Montepulciano D'Abruzzo.

Then came the food and the whole experience became a disappointment. My fiance had the Lasagna and he definitely ate all of it but didn't seem to be that thrilled about it, but I thought it was pretty good.

I had the Zuppa Di Pesce and I was very thankful that he offered and switched the pasta that originally came with the dish with one that was homemade, but the dish over all wasn't very good because the seafood was cold.

I tried to redeem the experience with dessert by getting the recommended Raisin Bread Pudding but to keep it simple, didn't really like it.

Pizza Fusion - Weston, FL (Other Locations)

Health conscious pizza just sounds like something that should not exist, but after going to Pizza Fusion, I am glad that it does. It was really good, I mean really good, that I almost didn't miss the greasy goodness that I am used to.

What made it great was that they had the right balance of healthy and tasty. I had the Tuscan Steak and Gorgonzola with the original organic crust (which by the way was crispy and just right).

However, my fiance had the Sausage and Tricolor Peppers that was equally as good but superseded my choice because of the tasty multi-grain crust.

Then you get the Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies and you will never look at a cookie the same way ever again. Warm, melty and mmm mmm good!!!

The spot it very low key and chill, but as a result of that, service was slow and lacking, but I really liked the food.
