Mexiqueando, an online media platform for Mexicans living abroad, puts together the Taste of Mexico Festival. Our organization promotes culture, lifestyle and Mexican businesses in Miami. Mexiqueando serves as the primary source to gather the Mexican community.
Cinco de Mayo commemorates the 1862 victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at the Battle of Puebla. The date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride, and commemorates the cause of freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War. Contrary to popular belief, it's not the Mexican Independence Day, which is commemorated September 16. Cinco de Mayo has been unofficially "adopted" as a U.S. holiday and is celebrated more here than in Mexico.
Don't know where to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Come to the festival and taste all your options in advance.
This is a great opportunity to sample signature dishes from the best Mexican restaurants in town.
