Moon Thai & Japanese - Weston, FL

You would think that since Weston is a pretty affluent community, that you would find some really nice restaurants, but there virtually is not any. I usually order takeout from Moon Thai & Japanese and it pretty good so we decided to head there for the evening to have a little family dinner.

The restaurant has a beautiful setup up and since we had such a large party, we were seated in the back in a semi private area which made the ambiance even more appealing.

I have the need to ease into my eating with a bit of alcohol (really I just like drinking) so I ordered a Sake Mojito. It was pretty good. The sake blended well into the drink.

I have ordered from here countless times, but never had their sushi, so as an appetizer we ordered a Mexican Roll. It of course was good and I am disappointed that I hadn't ordered sushi from here years ago.

I didn't want to get the Pad Thai and Fried Rice as my main because that is what I always get, but others in my party did and like always it was very good.

I decided to instead get the Crispy Duck. The duck was awesome, but even though I ordered the lunch portion, it was very small.

My sister and I have an obsession with Thai Donuts so we ordered two for the table. Not even five minutes passed before they were all gone because clearly everyone else has an obsession too.

A little family, a little food equals an amazing time.

Pizza Fusion - Weston, FL (Other Locations)

Health conscious pizza just sounds like something that should not exist, but after going to Pizza Fusion, I am glad that it does. It was really good, I mean really good, that I almost didn't miss the greasy goodness that I am used to.

What made it great was that they had the right balance of healthy and tasty. I had the Tuscan Steak and Gorgonzola with the original organic crust (which by the way was crispy and just right).

However, my fiance had the Sausage and Tricolor Peppers that was equally as good but superseded my choice because of the tasty multi-grain crust.

Then you get the Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies and you will never look at a cookie the same way ever again. Warm, melty and mmm mmm good!!!

The spot it very low key and chill, but as a result of that, service was slow and lacking, but I really liked the food.

Uncle Al's Sports Cafe - Sunrise, FL

-
This sports bar caters to an older crowd, but the wings are meaty and out of this world, and the fact that they have $1.50 COLD beers, I end up making my way here from time to time.

In addition to the wings, they have Burgers which are also really good and a great size and Curly Fries which could be a bit better but aren't too too bad.

And, you cannot forget the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches.

If you are not west or living in the Weston area, it likely is out of the way, but during Football season you should make your way there at least once to take in a game.

BurgerFi - Weston, FL (Nationwide)

In South Florida, there is no shortage of burger places. From franchises to local stores, new burger joints keep popping up. You may have heard of one called BurgerFi (and may have already eaten there), however, I felt that it was my duty to check out for you.

I knew of the burger chain, and have seen them everywhere but while I have been away (living in New Orleans), I never knew one had opened up in my hood. I partake in burger indulging yet try to be somewhat healthy (occasionally) so Burgerfi's approach to focus on healthier, all-natural ingredients is very appealing.

Natural Angus and never frozen patties sound great but how do these creations taste? A look at the burger may have you feeling a little disappointed (it is very petite), but it is piled with topping and biting into the branded burger which is cooked well done, you will be happy to know that it doesn't lose its juiciness. All in all, a BurgerFi Cheeseburger is a nicely balanced burger, which my 9 year old niece said was the best burger she ever had.

I think it is really disrespectful to the burger to not have fries to eat it with. The Fresh Cut Fries were tasty but left something to be desired. The addition of one of their fry topping may help with that though.

We also sampled the onion rings which were a lot better. They were huge, freshly cut rings that are generously breaded with a slightly sweet batter, then deep-fried to golden brown crispness.

The Wagyu Kobe Beef Hot Dog was more than just your regular dog. You could noticeably taste the difference in quality of the meat and I'm sure the rest of the dogs are like that too.

The Milkshake was thick but not too thick. It was of good quality and consistency.

Lastly, if you are a member of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Foursquare, you can use your status to get a Free Frozen Custard. It is creamy and delicious and you can add the toppings of your choosing.

Yeah, the food is fresh and taste great but it is important to note that the burgers and hot dogs are pretty small, and the meals are a bit more expensive than one would expect, but overall, we enjoyed the offerings at BurgerFi.

Substantial Salads & Subs - Weston, FL

Substantial Salads & Subs in Weston isn't just all about the salads and subs, what I discovered is that they have good tasting burgers too.
I went in expecting to try one of their subs and ended up with their Cheesesteak Sandwich. For a steak and cheese, it was not one of the best of I have ever had, but as a sandwich it was great. The meat was good and the bread was fresh and soft.

The Burger my friend ordered was the delicious surprise. It was well cooked, flavored and decked out with a whole lotta goodness.

The guys behind the counter are really nice, which is a plus, but what makes Substantial Salads & Subs so great are their prices. You are getting way better tasting food at McDonald's prices.

Don't get me wrong, they are not serving gourmet food here but the prices are great for what you are getting which is good food.

Sunday Brunch at Bonefish Grill

I have dined at Bonefish Grill a few times and I have never been impressed. The only thing that seems to keep me coming back is the Bang Bang Shrimp and only on Wednesdays when it is $5 because otherwise, it wouldn't be worth it. Recently, Bonefish Grill has introduced Sunday brunch (they are a dinner only restaurant). I wanted to take my boyfriend for breakfast/brunch for his birthday (just us before the crazy evening to come) but didn't want anything fancy and didn't want to venture too far so that is really why we ended up at Bonefish. I also found it to be a good opportunity to give them another chance.

We got there around 11am (opening time) and were surprised to see tables already seated and that we were walking in with another group. By the time it was 11:30am the restaurant was already pretty active. After we were seated, I did a quick glance of the menu and thought that they had a pretty good balance of dishes. In addition to the brunch menu they also serve their regular menu. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu since we never dined here for brunch before.

I decided to order the Endless Bubbles Brunch which is any breakfast entrée with an endless supply of Mimosas or Bellinis. I selected the Créme Brulee French Toast. It sounded so delicious; toast wtih Grand Marnier + orange zest batter, served with mascarpone whipped cream, fresh mint, strawberries and bacon. Yum! When it arrived our server explained that you have to eat a little bit of everything together and it tastes just like Creme Brulee. I don't know if I can agree with that, but it was good, fresh and a yummy combination. The bacon....need I say more!

There are three drink choices, but I selected the Traditional Mimosa. I love that it was made with fresh orange juice and that you could taste the alcohol in it. Our server who started off so well but was slow in bring my refill drinks. He asked if I wanted another and of course I said yes but he never came back with a new one. After waiting for quite some time, I inquired about the drink because I thought he forgot and he tried to say he was waiting on the bartender but when we looked over to the bar, the drink was just sitting there waiting. Another time, someone else ended up bringing the drink but got the drink wrong and brought me a Passionfruit Mimosa instead, however I enjoyed it anyways. The drinks were really great but, the service was a bit slow. It wasn't endless but more like stop and go.

My boyfriend kept it more traditional and less sweet and ordered the Western Omelet with house-made turkey chorizo, cheddar, cilantro,
ranchero, lime sour cream and a side of potatoes au gratin. The omelet was tasty, made with fresh ingredients and most importantly the eggs were fluffy. Now, the potatoes, damn those were good (I ate about half of his).

Brunch at Bonefish Grill was a new experience and the brunch food was more enjoyable than their regular menu, but still, something about Bonefish Grill just doesn't seem to impress me. They do make good, fresh food, its just, not great. I like a little pizzazz and their food is a little lackluster.

Entretapas Restaurant & Market: Serving Spanish Cuisine in Weston, FL

I was working hard (sort of) when I started to get that lunchtime itch. I wasn't in the mood to do the usual and I really wanted to try someplace new, have some ethic food and not have to venture too far, so I spent a few minutes researching restaurants for lunch in the area. I found a spot close by called Entretapas. I got excited since it was Spanish food and even more so when I saw they had paella for lunch.

The lady at the front was very sweet and helpful in me ordering my food. She made sure I had everything and talked to me a little bit about the restaurant. In addition to the restaurant, they also have a little market where you can purchase meats and cheeses. They also offer delivery on their website to those out of state. So although I wasn't dining in, I was assured that they are very hospitable.

For the convenience of lunch diners, the paella is pre-made since it obviously takes a really long time to cook. They have two choices available for lunch. I went with the Paella Valenciana (mixed fish, seafood, chicken and vegetables). It was alright but needed a little bit more flavor so I added some of my Scotch bonnet hot sauce to bring out the flavor. It was so pretty but average tasting. For it to be considered their main dish it needed some work, but for the price, the portion was good and allowed me lunch for two days.

On the menu, it is stated that the paella would come with a salad, but I was given the option of getting a soup. I choose the Lentil Soup and flavor wise it was much better than the paella itself. A surprise addition I wasn't expecting.

Since I ordered take-out I didn't get to experience the complete essence of the restaurant and although the food wasn't to expectations, the staff was very nice and I have such a love for Spanish cuisine (and nothing else like it is in the area) that I would love to come back and try something else.
