Substantial Salads & Subs - Weston, FL

Substantial Salads & Subs in Weston isn't just all about the salads and subs, what I discovered is that they have good tasting burgers too.
I went in expecting to try one of their subs and ended up with their Cheesesteak Sandwich. For a steak and cheese, it was not one of the best of I have ever had, but as a sandwich it was great. The meat was good and the bread was fresh and soft.

The Burger my friend ordered was the delicious surprise. It was well cooked, flavored and decked out with a whole lotta goodness.

The guys behind the counter are really nice, which is a plus, but what makes Substantial Salads & Subs so great are their prices. You are getting way better tasting food at McDonald's prices.

Don't get me wrong, they are not serving gourmet food here but the prices are great for what you are getting which is good food.

Slices Pizza & Pasta - North Miami, FL

Slices Pizza & Pasta bills itself as a rodizio — an all-you-can-eat style of restaurant. The genius of the concept is that although buffet style, the food is served to you at the table. I was very intrigued by the concept especially when it came to this style food (I was aware of Brazilian Rodizio) and wanted to check it out.

After being seated and explained the process, we were asked questions about what we liked and didn't like so they could gage the type of things we would be interested in. In the end it really didn't matter, they just brought us whatever they had anyways.

The food march began right away. Pizzas, pastas, pizzas, pastas.

Overall, the food was not bad, but the initial items we ate you could tell were sitting around for awhile and although the food good hotter, warmer and better as the meal progressed, it was still nothing to rave about. Not good, not bad, just average.

The girls that worked there were really sweet, but the concept sort of ruined the experience. It really affects the mood of your meal when you constantly have to stop eating to say yes I would like to try that or end up waiting because you didn't want to try something. Another problem I found was that food comes at you quickly. Without time to digest what you have just eaten, you are being offered something else.

Towards the end of our meal, we were each given a slice of lasagna. This was by far the best thing we had all night. It was however still average and extremely greasy so that doesn't say very much.

They give you a green/red card so that you could signify the beginning and end of your meal. We didn't use at any time during the meal so it was funny when dessert was brought out without us signaling that.

Not saying I wasn't already stuffed but I don't think it was right they make the decision to end the meal. Dessert was a pizza, it wasn't very good.

Buffets aren't really for me and it seems rodizio isn't either. I would have rather ordered a pizza and pasta from a place I really like and just served myself.

Asahi Chinese & Japanese Restaurant - Sunrise, FL

One of my favorite sushi places in Broward is Ashahi Sushi. I have been coming here for a few years now, and thus far have been satisfied with the food and service.

The restaurant itself is quaint. Although not very fancy in its decor, it is a place that you don't mind coming to.

The staff also helps with the desire to come here. Although not Americanized, they are nice. The best part of the restaurant is the fresh food.  It comes to the table warm and fast.

They have a full Chinese menu which isn't too bad, but I really only come here for the sushi.

They start you off with crispy Fried Wontons and Duck Sauce. Those little things are so addictive and annoying at the same time, since you come in hungry and fill up on them.

My sushi favorites are the Spicy Tuna and Mexican Rolls.

On my last visit I also tried the Crunchy Roll. It didn't makes the top of the list, but was pretty good.

Another new one I tried was the Volcano Roll. This one has a wait time, but it was worth it. It is a basic California Roll but is topped with a warm fish mix. It was delicious!

Check them out, I think u will enjoy it too!
